Born in Switzerland, moved to New York City aged 18 to learn the art of entertainment. She co-founded the band [[artist:Kid Creole And The Coconuts]] together with (ex husband) [[artist:August Darnell]] and [[artist:Coati Mundi]] (both formerly of [[artist:Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band]]).
